Soap Creek Armory "Cannon"

These Soap Creek Armory "Cannon" pistols are hand-made by Josh at Soap Creek Armory.

If you are interested in purchasing one or having one built, please contact Josh for pricing and availability.

The process all starts with a frame and a slide that do not mate.

The frame and slide are fit together at the same time.

Josh does this the old-fashioned way with a file.

Fitting the frame and slide is a tedious task.

This process requires removing a little material and then constantly checking the progress.

Once the frame is fit to the slide, the barrel can then be fit to the slide. Josh fits the barrel to the slide with the old-fashioned "hard-fit" method. Then, the slide and barrel assembly can be fit to the frame.

Performing these processes in this way and in this order are what makes a custom 1911 more accurate than a mass-produced 1911.  But doing it this way is labor intensive!

Every component, like the ejector in this picture, must be hand fit for rigidity and optimal performance.

"Blending" and "Dressing" are what is needed for both an optimally operational and a nice looking pistol.

Here we see the barrel bushing being fit on the lathe.

Our carbon steel parts that need blued are blued by a high-volume firearm bluer in Alabama.

After the parts are returned from the bluer, final fitting of parts is completed, sights are installed and regulated, and the pistol is assembled, function tested, and sighted in for accuracy.

Each pistol is truly a high-quality one-of-a-kind creation!

Unlike the more-economical 1911 pistols made on an assembly line, these "Cannons" not only look better, but also will be more reliable, more accurate and last longer than mass-produced pistols.  We use the best components that we have found to exist (each pistol has over $2,500 worth of parts in them) and Josh has over 20 hours of labor in building each "Cannon".

Basically, these pistols are made with the right stuff and made the best way.  More importantly than these pistols LOOKING good, they ARE good.

An all-blued "Cannon" with a matte blued frame and a glossy blued slide.
